Italy Roamer privacy notice

How Remarcable VC Ltd handles website visits, limited analytics and emails relating to Italy Roamer.

Who is responsible

Remarcable VC Ltd is the operator of Italy Roamer (italyroamer.com) and the controller of personal information described in this notice. Contact marc@remarcablevc.com for questions or privacy requests. This notice was updated on 24 October 2026.

Reading the site and using its tools

You can read our guides without an account. We do not offer reader accounts, public comments, newsletter sign-ups or booking forms on this site. If you use the research tool, saved guide paths are kept in local storage in your browser, not in a personal account. Its search and filters run in your browser. You can remove saved items using the tool or clear this site's storage in your browser settings. Planning-calculator inputs stay in the page rather than being submitted as a booking or enquiry.

Website delivery and security

Our hosting and infrastructure services receive technical information needed to deliver pages and protect the site, including your IP address, request time, requested address and browser information. Operational logs can contain personal information. We use this information to serve the website, investigate faults and prevent misuse, relying on our legitimate interests in running a secure, reliable publication.

Limited website analytics

We use Umami, hosted at dashboard.remarcablevc.com under our control, to understand which guides people use and whether navigation is useful. It does not set analytics cookies. The tracker records page paths and titles, basic device/browser and approximate location statistics. The analytics service receives the network information needed to process a request, including an IP address and browser user agent; cookieless does not mean no personal information is processed. We do not send URL query strings, fragments or referrers to analytics. Internal-link events contain the destination path; external-link events contain only the destination hostname, not the full external URL. We do not send research search text or calculator inputs as event data. Our basis for this limited measurement is our legitimate interest in improving the publication, with collection reduced to these bounded fields.

Your analytics choices

The tracker honours a browser Do Not Track setting of 1. You can also add ?analytics=off to a page address to stop analytics on that page visit; this URL option does not create a permanent opt-out. A browser-local umami.disabled value of 1 also disables the tracker for this site. These choices do not prevent the technical requests needed to load the website.

When you email us

If you email marc@remarcablevc.com, we receive your email address, message and any details or attachments you choose to send through email services. We use them to answer your enquiry, investigate corrections and keep a necessary record of the outcome. Our basis is our legitimate interest in responding to readers and maintaining accurate information. Where a privacy request requires us to act under data protection law, we also process the necessary information to meet that legal obligation. Sending an enquiry does not subscribe you to marketing.

Service providers and external sites

We use infrastructure, database, backup and email services to operate the publication. Access to information is for service delivery and administration; our analytics dashboard is not public. Providers may process information outside the UK, and we do not promise that every service is UK-only. You can ask us about the services and transfer arrangements relevant to your information at marc@remarcablevc.com. Links to tourism authorities, transport companies and other providers take you to sites with their own privacy notices. A booking made there is handled by that provider, not by us. We do not embed an interactive map or a booking-provider tracking widget in these guides.

How long we keep information

We keep correspondence while dealing with the enquiry and for as long as a record of the response is needed for follow-up, disputes or legal obligations; we review whether it is still needed rather than treating every email as a permanent record. Technical records are used for security and troubleshooting. We retain active website analytics for a rolling twelve calendar months to compare seasonal readership. A daily deletion job removes analytics records older than that window from this site's active analytics database, including associated event and session data. Records normally expire at the next daily run; a failed or safety-stopped job can delay deletion until it is corrected. We do not promise a fixed automatic deletion period for technical logs. Ask us about retention or request deletion using the contact above. Restricted backup copies may remain until the relevant backup is replaced or expires; deleting a live record does not instantly remove every recovery copy. Information saved only in your browser remains until you remove it or clear the site's storage.

Your rights and complaints

Under UK data protection law you can ask for access to personal information about you, correction of inaccurate information, deletion or restriction, and object to use based on legitimate interests. Some rights depend on the circumstances and lawful basis; data portability applies only where its legal conditions are met. Email marc@remarcablevc.com to make a request or complain about our handling of your information. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

Changes to this notice

We will update this page if our collection or services change. The date above identifies this version of the notice.
