Which Pompeii ticket should you buy?
For a first visit focused on the streets, Forum and houses inside the ancient city, choose Pompeii Express. Choose Pompeii Plus if the Villa of the Mysteries and the wider suburban villas route are part of your plan. A guided tour is a separate purchase unless the product explicitly includes admission.
The park’s tariff table effective from 12 January 2026 lists €20 for Express and €25 for Plus. These are published standard admission prices checked on 24 October 2026, not a claim of available tickets for every date; any checkout charges or optional extras need to be considered separately.

| Your decision | Published standard price | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Pompeii Express | €20 | Ancient city only; suburban villas excluded; one entry |
| Pompeii Plus | €25 | Ancient city, Villa of the Mysteries, Villa of Diomedes, Villa Regina and Boscoreale Antiquarium; shuttle included; one entry |
| Greater Pompeii, three-day ticket | €30 | Plus scope, Oplontis and Stabiae sites; three days, one entry per site on its opening days |
| MyPompeii annual pass | €45 standard tariff | All park sites and shuttle for a year; aimed at repeat visits rather than one rushed day |
Plus is the simpler purchase if you already want the villas
An Express holder can buy an €8 supplement at the start of the suburban villas route at Porta Ercolano–Street of the Tombs; the park specifies card payment only. Buying Plus at the outset costs €25, while Express plus the supplement totals €28. Choose Plus before checkout if that is already your intended route.
The supplement is not a standalone entry to the villas without an eligible Pompeii admission. The wider ticket also does not give you more daylight: the park lists last access at Porta Ercolano at 15:30 in winter and 17:30 in summer.
Park rules for the suburban-villas supplementBuy through the park’s official link and use the correct names
Start from the archaeological park’s official timetables-and-tickets page, which links to pompeii.vivaticket.it. Pompeii admission is nominative and the park applies a daily limit of 20,000 entries. Enter the actual visitor details and carry identification; a reseller’s voucher is not automatically the same document as a park entry ticket.
Compare a reseller or guided-tour product on its total price, admission scope, meeting point, language, cancellation terms and whether the operator supplies the entry ticket. A guide, audio guide, transfer and access to the suburban villas are distinct inclusions. None should be assumed because the product says “Pompeii tour”.
Official on-site ticket offices are inside the archaeological area at Porta Marina, Piazza Esedra and Piazza Anfiteatro. Buying ahead avoids relying on remaining walk-up availability, but it does not remove security checks.
Official ticket offices and online purchasing instructionsWinter hours change how much time a late ticket buys
From 15 October to 15 March, Pompeii opens at 09:00, last admission is 15:30 and closing is 17:00. From 16 March to 14 October, the published schedule is 09:00–19:00 with last admission at 17:30. The park lists closure on 25 December and 1 January unless it announces otherwise.
Allow about three to four hours for a focused ancient-city visit as an editorial pacing estimate, and longer if adding villas. A 15:30 winter arrival leaves only 90 minutes before closing, so it is not equivalent to an early ticket. Choose an early arrival for a substantial visit rather than adding more sights to the morning.
Pompeii seasonal opening and final-entry timesMatch the entrance to the train station
For Porta Marina and Piazza Esedra, the park directs visitors to the Napoli–Sorrento Circumvesuviana route and Pompei Villa dei Misteri station, commonly shown as Pompei Scavi–Villa dei Misteri. For Piazza Anfiteatro, its alternatives include Pompei Santuario on the Napoli–Poggiomarino line or the national-rail station Pompei on the Napoli–Salerno route. These are different stations serving different approaches.
Do not buy a train ticket just by choosing the first result containing “Pompei”. Read the destination and entrance together. EAV’s current timetable index lists Vesuvian schedules effective from 17 October 2026; select a service that actually calls at your required stop rather than assuming every train to Sorrento does so.

EAV’s 30 October 2026 strike notice gives guaranteed Vesuvian-service windows of 05:30–08:30 and 16:30–19:30. Outside those windows, services depend on strike participation. That affects an ordinary Naples–Pompeii day trip, not just a late return.
Move the visit to another day if you can. If you cannot, plan both legs from the official guaranteed-departure notice, not just the normal timetable, and keep the 17:00 park closing in mind. A public-bus alternative is not automatically unaffected because the strike notice also covers road services.
EAV: affected services and guaranteed departures on 30 OctoberRe-entry, reduced tickets and accessible routes
Express and Plus are valid for one entry: leaving for lunch does not permit a second admission on the same ticket. Bring what you need for the visit and plan the route before exiting. The three-day ticket likewise permits one entry to each included site, not unlimited return visits.
The park lists a €2 reduced admission category for eligible EU citizens aged 18 to under 25, with additional qualifying residency categories. Do not assume every student or every visitor under 25 qualifies. Read the official eligibility and document requirements before selecting a reduced ticket.
For mobility difficulties, the park identifies Piazza Anfiteatro as the starting entrance for the “Pompeii for all” route, with a possible exit at Piazza Esedra using the Antiquarium lift. The included Artebus shuttle is explicitly described as not equipped for disabled access. A broader ticket therefore does not establish a step-free visit to every included site.
Pompeii ticket conditions and accessible-route informationStay in Naples or move closer?
Naples works as a base if Pompeii is one full-day excursion alongside city sightseeing. There is no need to change hotels solely to use a wider admission ticket; the three-day option is worthwhile only if you will actually visit the additional sites within its validity.
Keep a separate Naples day for MANN if you want museum context, but note its current Mosaic collection and Secret Cabinet closures before planning around specific objects.
